Blizzard has just announced today at Blizzcon at StarCraft II is now going free-to-play. While many gamers aren’t particularly fond of the free-to-play concept, Blizzard assures everyone that they really ‘mean it’ when it’s free.

On November 14th, StarCraft II can be played by everyone for free, specifically the single-player campaign along with the co-op commander up to level 5. There’s also a chance for you to unlock the game’s multiplayer content for free – all you have to do is earn the 10 First Wins of the Day in Unranked or Versus A.I. play. Blizzard says it’s a way for them to preserve the ‘quality and the integrity’ of the ranking experience in the game.

But if you already own Wings of Liberty, worry not since you’ll be able to get the second installment of the campaign, Heart of the Swarm, for free. It’s free to claim between November 8th to December 8th.
