With Geostorm hitting UAE theaters tomorrow, we thought it’s best to round up some of our favorite disaster movies in recent years. The 90’s were particularly notorious for bringing out some of the best (and worst) disaster movies in movie history.

Here are ten of our favorite disaster movies:

2012 – Roland Emmerich’s supposedly last disaster went all out with 2012. While it’s thin on plot, it features some of the best special effects we’ve seen in a disaster movie.

Dante’s Peak – One of the two volcano movies released in 1997, Dante’s Peak was like more by critics thanks to its ‘more accurate’ portrayal of a volcanic eruption.

The Poseidon Adventure – Who knew that getting stuck in a capsized cruise liner will be more thrilling than expected? That’s exactly what this movie is – forget the remake, watch the original instead.

Twister – Admittedly this is one of my favorite disaster movies that I’ve watching as a kid. Anyone still remember the cow scene?

Armageddon – Yes, oil drillers becoming astronauts is absurd, but I’m sure you also teared up when Harry said goodbye to her daughter.
