Google’s Allo app is the new alternative for messaging amongst Android (and iOS) users. But since the app is mostly confined to smartphones and tablets, many are wondering when Google will introduce a desktop client for the popular service.

‘In the next few weeks,’ that’s the answer that was given by Head of Product for Google Allo and Duo Amit Fulay on Twitter.

A desktop/web client for Google Allo is one of the most requested features by users. Many of other requested features like chat backups, SMS support, and integration with Google’s video calling app Duo have already been implemented.

Google Allo originally launched in September of last year and immediately got more than 5 million downloads in the same month it was launched.
