Netflix is gearing up for the launch of the second season of Stanger Things – one of the hottest TV shows at the moment. To get you distracted before it finally streams online, Netflix has launched a nifty smartphone game that you can download on your iOS or Android device.

Stranger Things: The Game was made in partnership with BonusXP and brings the same look and feel of the TV series: a retro 8-bit game that reminds you of the early days of the Nintendo consoles – even the theme song is in 8-bit (which is awesome).

The game lets you play the Police Chief Hopper as he investigates the recent disappearances happening in the town. This includes solving puzzles, unlocking some doors and of course, fighting with characters from the Upside Down.

Game tie-ins like these are normally clichéd and boring, but Stranger Things: The Game has enough Eggo waffles to keep you playing it until the second season arrives.

Stranger Things: The Game is now available on iOS and Android devices for free.
