The Galaxy S8 will have a larger ‘plus’ variant

Leaked name suggests the new size.

As the date nears for the supposed announcement of Samsung’s upcoming flagship, more information is being circulated online on the supposed new specifications surrounding the new smartphone.

Aside from utilizing Snapdragon’s latest 835 processor (meaning superfast speeds and computing power without sacrificing battery life), the new Samsung Galaxy S8 will also come in two variants – but it won’t be like last year’s S7 and S7 Edge.

The new product names will simply be S8 and S8+ since both smartphones will both have curved edges with only screen size differentiating it from the two.

Whether it’s another play on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, the simpler naming is now less confusing than its previous models. Leaker Evan Blass even confirmed that name in a tweet that supposedly reveals the actual branding.

While not confirmed, rumors suggest that the S8 and S8+ will have a 5.7-inch and 6-inch displays respectively. While size is a worry, it was also said that the new smartphone would have a bezel-less design making it able to have a bigger screen without increasing the hardware dimensions.

More will be revealed in the coming weeks so stay tuned.
