OnePlus 5 confirmed - here’s what we know

Launching this summer.

OnePlus has started teasing its upcoming flagship while also confirming its name. The OnePlus 5 was confirmed through a simple ‘Hello 5’ teaser posed on the Chinese social network Weibo by the company.

This somehow confirms the recent naming rumors floating around in the past month where OnePlus is skipping the ‘4’ naming variant with respect to local Chinese beliefs that the number is an unlucky one.

The image also ended with the caption ‘Hey Summer! Give me give!” that basically confirms that the new smartphone is arriving this summer.

A recent leak also highlighted the key specifications for the OnePlus 5: a Snapdragon 835 SoC with up to 128 GB of memory. There is also speculations that said it will also have 8 GB of RAM (up from the 6 GB from the 3 and 3T) plus a bigger 3,600 mAh battery. It will likely have keep the 3.5 mm audio jack and the same USB Type-C connection.
