Bose’s revamped line of noise cancelling earphones highlights the capabilities of the company’s progress on audio technology. It’s latest, the Bose QuietComfort 30, is one of the few wireless headphones that features a neckband-style design.

We’ve seen these neckband-style headphones before, but in the case of the Bose QuietComfort 30, it also supports noise cancellation. Something that the company has always been known for.

The neckband offers a secure fit, though that might depend on the user. Each earpiece have a built-in fin that secures it even better when you are wearing it. Pairing controls are located on the neckband along with the micro USB port that’s used for charging it. I managed to get around 10 hours of usage on the Bose QuietComfort 30 before I needed to charge again.

The Bose QuietComfort 30 also includes an inline volume and playback buttons along with a dedicated ambient mic level controls. You would then need the Bose Connect app (available on Android and iOS) so you can easily configure the basic functions, including the adjustment of the ambient mic’s volume.

This feature is one of our favorites, since the ambient microphone can help you enjoy your tunes better while you can still subtly hear outside noise around you to help keep you aware.

Performance-wise, the Bose QuietComfort 30 proved that the company is still the leader in noise cancellation. It managed to block out outside noise when I was inside a crowded (and noisy) train – but I still managed to hear the train announcements so I did not miss the station where I am supposed to get off.

Sound output is similar to other Bose devices: audio is free of any distortion. It’s crisp and bass is presented on an acceptable level without it being too overwhelming.

The Bose QuietComfort 30 offers excellent noise cancellation and great battery life. It’s a pricey pair of wireless headphones, but performance-wise you won’t be disappointed.
