Portable speakers are here to stay.

Creative’s lineup of portable speakers come in all shapes and sizes and when we got the Muvo 2c for review, we didn’t it would be one of the decent Bluetooth speakers we’ve tested. Yes, it runs on Bluetooth and for a mere 179 AED, it’s actually one of the cheapest options available.

The Muvo 2c is cute, tiny and small enough to be placed anywhere. It’s also splashproof, meaning that you can easily bring it to any pool or at the beach and not worry about it getting wet. On the side you will find a flap that includes a 3.5 mm audio jack, micro SD card slot, and a micro USB port.

So aside from wireless Bluetooth you can use the conventional wired options to listen to your music, or simply load up a few tunes on a micro SD card and the Muvo 2c will play it. The top part houses the playback and power buttons along with the source modes indicated by an LED light. Blue will stand for Bluetooth, green for aux in, yellow for MP3 and purple for USB audio.

This isn’t just a portable speaker. Once you plug in the speaker to a PC or Mac, you can download an optional Sound Blaster app which would let you apply sound profiles and be able to tweak the EQ settings as well. There are already presets for playing games or watching movies – something you’d never expect from a speaker of this size. But note that these functions will only work through the USB wired mode, not on Bluetooth.

Even more awesome is that you can purchase another Muvo 2c and pair the two speakers in stereo mode for even better audio experience.

But sound quality is where the Muvo 2c shines. This speaker contains a passive radiator, which effectively gives off more bass even with its small size – and the bass is evidently powerful with the Muvo 2c. It won’t be earth-shattering, but definitely above average.

Vocals are clear and crisp, and even various instruments are clearly heard on every level. Even more impressive is that the Muvo 2c has little to no distortion even when placed at full volume – a feature that even some high-end speakers fail to achieve.

Probably the only thing we didn’t like is that the battery lasts a mere 6 hours.

With all its power, size and incredibly affordable price, the Creative Muvo 2c shines as one of our favorite portable Bluetooth speakers available.
