Almost all of the smartphones that were released in the past months already support some form of wireless charging. It is the current latest trend in mobile technology today, and is easily one of the few beneficial features that most users request (though Apple’s iPhone still has no support for it).

Belkin’s Boost Up Wireless Charging Pad is one of the few accessories that take advantage of this feature. At $69.99 (257 AED), it isn’t cheap – but it is one of the few convenient ways for you to charge your device.

The Boost Up features a simple circular design with a rubberized exterior to prevent smartphones from sliding easily when placed on top for charging. The same material is found underneath for a sturdier balance that won’t let slide around even on smooth surfaces.

It supports the Qi charging standard – meaning that it has support for nearly all devices that use the same standard. Belkin states that it is compatible with the Note 5, Galaxy S8, S8+, S7, S7 Edge, S6 edge+, S6 edge and S6 but it also worked will with older devices like the Nexus 5 and a Lumia 930.

What makes the Boost Up different is that it contains a 15W transmitter coil that is basically faster compared to other standard wireless chargers. If your device supports it, then it can also fast charge your device the same way as it is plugged in.

It also features a Thermal Protection Sensor that monitors the charging pad and your device’s temperature so it can automatically turn off whenever it is full so there is no risk of overheating.

I tested the Boost Up Wireless Charging Pad with a Samsung Galaxy S8, and it did exactly what it was designed to do. Charging started the moment I placed it on the pad, and a green LED lights up to tell me that charging has commenced. It can also charge through any case – as long as it is not more than 3 mm thick.

The $69.99 price might be a little steep for a charging pad, but the various safety features and the subtle design make the Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Pad a great accessory for your device.
