Galaxy S3 launch date: March 22nd?

Samsung will be holding an event in France on March 22nd. Will this be the launch of Galaxy S III? [Update]

[Update] False alarm folks. Samsung issued a statement denying any launch. It said this is an open media event that takes place twice a year.

Our previous update on the status of the Samsung Galaxy S III featured some exciting rumors and specs to go with it. Seeing that the smartphone was a no-show at this year’s CES, and will not be showing up at stands during Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress, we are most likely to witness its surfacing at a newly confirmed event in France on March 22nd.  Samsung haven’t mentioned who will be the star of said event, but we have a hunch they will finally pull aside the blinds.

Digging into the spec bucket, latest rumors suggest a 4.6-inch 720p AMOLED Plus display, a 1.8 GHz dual-core Exynos processor (and not quad-core as it seems), 2GB of RAM, and a 12-meg camera. We can also expect a size reduction to a thickness of just 0.28 inches (compared to the SII’s 0.33 inches).
