You probably know that Google already offers storage in the form of Google Docs and also via its Gmail service, but rumors point towards the company expanding its portfolio.
According to The Wall Street Journal, it could well be set to unveil a rival cloud storage service to the likes of Dropbox and Microsoft's SkyDrive (that features prominently on its Windows Phone 7 smartphones).
Google Drive,a s it's called, will offer users a secure amount of cloud storage. All files saved to a specified folder on your PC will be uploaded and stored safely on Google's servers so you could access them from anywhere, and from all your devices, and share them with other users. We expect close integration with Google's own Android OS, and therefore smartphones such as the Galaxy Nexus and the Galaxy S2.
It's not yet clear as to the amount of storage that would be made available or whether there will be a subscription cost, just that the service will be arriving soon.
