The processor leak came as a surprise, not least since the iPad 3 was expected to land with a quad-core offering.
However, a nearly confirmed Retina display gracing the front of Apple's upcoming tablet will surely benefit from an improvement over the iPad 2's 1Ghz dual-core A5 processor, and in particular a more powerful GPU from Imagination Technologies to handle all those pixels (2048 x 1536). This allows the iPad 3 to have the same screen density and sharpness found on the iPhone 4 and 4S.
Images of the iPad 3's purported unibody shell were hosted by Nextmedia,Taiwanese publisher of the Apple Daily tabloid. While not a very reliable source of information, these images are consonant with previous part leaks originating from China, and a previous claim to have seen the iPad 3 by iLounge's editor- in-chief.
Partly based on the above shots. the iPad 3 looks to be 1mlm thicker than its predecessor, with a more gradual taper to the body.
An enlarged camera burrow in the upper left corner, similar to the iPhone 4S, might indicate an enhancement over iPad 2's 1 megapixel snapper, with an 8 megapixel sensor highly likely.
