The Porsche Cayenne is running strong in the region but is a new SUV just around the corner? Porsche say yes and tease a 2013 release date.

Without a doubt, Porsche’s first SUV has been mega successful. Look around you and you’ll notice the flock of them – from stock models to the S, Turbo, and GTS.

The German car manufacturer has just announced it will be adding to its SUV segment. Meet the Macan, derived from the Indonesian word for tiger, combining suppleness, power, fascination and dynamics – the ideal embodying characteristics for the new model.

The Macan is expected to share a lot of similarities with the Audi Q5. However, bespoke suspension and brakes, combined with a lower profile will make the new Macan a sportier SUV. It is also expected to be more luxurious on the inside, borrowing several dashboard cues from the Panamera.

There is no news yet on final specs, but the concept image suggests specific design cues, similar to that of the Cayenne. The fifth model line will begin production in Leipzig (Germany) in 2013.
