Ubisoft to open Abu Dhabi studio

Gamers / developers of the Middle-East rejoice. Ubisoft is planning to inaugurate "the first major video games studio" in Abu Dhabi, capital and largest city in the United Arab Emirates, this December.

The studio will initially be working on online titles, coordinating with other ubisoft studios., with game production targeting local and international scenes alike.

Yannick Theler has been chosen to head the new studio. Yannick is a ten-year old Ubisoft veteran who was recently the HR director for Ubisoft Shanghai.

Ubisoft said in a statement: "Abu Dhabi's excellent technological infrastructure and quality training institutions and its long-term commitment to create a thriving regional media and entertainment industry were key factors in the decision for Ubisoft to establish a new studio in the Middle East".

P.S. We thought it was cool having Ezio swing on top of Burj el-Arab in Dubai to let something as insignificant as proper geography stand in our way.

Excited? Would you be submitting your CV? Do you think this will serve the gaming scenes of the Arabian / Middle-Eastern communities? Let us know via comments or Twitter / Facebook.
