Classy, yet understated

The world of the wireless earbuds is fast filling up, and not necessarily with quality as a key ingredient. So the Beoplay E8, the brand’s first wireless buds, are aiming to attract audiophiles into that space.

Classy, yet understated

The world of the wireless earbuds is fast filling up, and not necessarily with quality as a key ingredient. So the Beoplay E8, the brand’s first wireless buds, are aiming to attract audiophiles into that space.

As with their portfolio, the E8 buds design could best be described as classy, almost understated. Think a top grain black leather case with aluminum encircles on the touch interface.

Once you open the 45gm case you have the buds, which have an aluminum-lined touch sensitive surface on both left and right earpieces. Meaning with a tap, you can control the volume [reducing by keeping your ginger pressed on the left, and increasing by doing the reverse on the other side], take calls, activate voice and so on.

Tech on the E8 includes Transparency Mode, which interestingly lets in ambient sounds, so you can choose to focus on your music or let a bit of the real world in when you’re out in the city. You can select between four different levels of transparency. ToneTouch is an intuitive equalizer that lets you have control over the characteristics of your sound.

The key insight, of course, is the sound quality, which is very impressive. It’s a near given, since this is a B&O product, yet the clear bass lines that we heard on the sample tracks were very impressive. Sound-wise, the E8 comes with a 5.7mm electro-dynamic speaker with 16 Ohm impedance and a 20 -20,000 Hz frequency range.

When fully charged, E8 will give you up to 4 hours of playtime at a moderate sound level for each charge. The case that doubles as a charging station on the go, will give you 2 additional charges. This gives you up to 12 hours of playtime when you’re on the go.

The Beoplay E8 will retail at AED 1,199 at Virgin Megastore.
