SanDisk may have introduced its own 60 TB solid-state drive, but Viking’s new 50 TB is the one that’s available now if you’re craving more high-speed storage. Viking’s UHC-Silo SSD is a 3.5-inch drive using the SAS interface – it’s meant for enterprise usage rather than personal, so don’t be surprised with the crazy price tag.

SanDisk may have introduced its own 60 TB solid-state drive, but Viking’s new 50 TB is the one that’s available now if you’re craving more high-speed storage. Viking’s UHC-Silo SSD is a 3.5-inch drive using the SAS interface – it’s meant for enterprise usage rather than personal, so don’t be surprised with the crazy price tag.

To go into technical details, Viking’s SSD uses Planar MLC NAND that offer read and write speeds of 500 MB/s and 350 MB/s respectively. If you look at it, you can fit more than 10,000 DVDs inside 50 TB of storage.

But it’s not only Viking who advancing in the world of storage solutions. Samsung for example has already announced that in the next three years, a 100 TB SSD would be available.

That’s more than enough storage to store ALL the DVDs in the world.
