Microsoft has just announced Age of Empires IV today at Gamescom. The epic real-strategy game franchise is being developed by Relic Entertainment. The trailer didn’t feature any footage, but it did give some insight as to how the gameplay would be.

The footage did showcase some concept art that depicts various periods in history including the Romans, Japanese Samurai even the Native Americans.

The announcement comes 20 years since the first Age of Empires game was released, which is now getting a 4K remaster. Along with that, the sequels Age of Empires II and Age of Empires III are also getting their own Definitive Edition remasters launching on October 19 exclusively on Windows 10.

As for Age of Empires IV, no word yet as to when the game will be released – but at least we know it’s coming!
