With Android Oreo being made available for Google-branded devices, manufacturers are rushing to bring the most recent version of Android to their smartphones. BlackBerry for one has always been consistent with updates, though users of its recent devices might be disappointed.

A recent interview with UTB Blogs revealed that the BlackBerry Priv will not be receiving Android Oreo, meaning that Android Nougat will be its last version. Additionally, it looks like the DTEK59 and the DTEK60 devices won’t be getting Android Oreo as well.

This is surprising especially for the BlackBerry Priv, which is barely two years old. People from the company did explain that doing the update will be too difficult with their partners. When the devices were upgraded from Android Lollipop to Android Marshmallow, it proved to be a harrowing task considering that BlackBerry wanted to make these smartphones as secure as possible.

BlackBerry did say that these smartphones will still get the routine updates and patches but unfortunately Nougat will be the last dessert it is going to taste.
